Edna Dental Clinic

Children's dentistry

Check-ups, preventive care and treatment of decayed milk teeth, including pulpotomy, explained to children and parents at their pace.

Who it is for

Children from their first tooth, ideally with a first visit by their first birthday.

What happens during treatment

  1. We introduce the chair and instruments to your child before starting.
  2. Teeth are examined and cleaned; fluoride or sealants may be advised.
  3. Decayed milk teeth are treated with fillings or pulpotomy to keep them until they fall out naturally.

Aftercare

  • Brush your child's teeth twice daily with a rice-grain smear of fluoride toothpaste under age three, and a pea-sized amount after.
  • Limit sugary snacks and drinks between meals.

Questions about this treatment

Why treat milk teeth if they fall out?

Milk teeth hold space for adult teeth and help with chewing and speech; untreated decay can cause pain and infection.

Can a parent stay in the room?

Yes, parents are welcome to stay with their child.
