Dental implants
A titanium post placed in the jawbone to support a crown, replacing a missing tooth without altering neighbouring teeth.
Who it is for
Adults with one or more missing teeth and enough bone and gum health; suitability is confirmed with a scan.
What happens during treatment
- Consultation and a 3D scan to plan the implant position.
- The implant is placed under local anaesthetic.
- A healing period of about three months lets the bone bond to the implant.
- An abutment and crown are fitted on the implant.
Aftercare
- Follow the soft diet and rinse instructions for the first week.
- Implants need the same brushing and check-ups as natural teeth; smoking increases the risk of complications.
