Dental crowns
A custom-made cap, usually zirconia, that covers and protects a weakened or heavily filled tooth.
Who it is for
Teeth after root canal treatment, cracked teeth, or teeth with large fillings.
What happens during treatment
- The tooth is shaped to make room for the crown.
- A digital or conventional impression is taken and a shade selected.
- A temporary crown protects the tooth while the lab makes the final one.
- The final crown is checked for fit and bite and then cemented.
Aftercare
- Avoid sticky food on a temporary crown.
- Clean around the crown margin carefully and keep regular check-ups.
