Tooth-coloured fillings (back teeth)
Repair of decayed or broken back teeth with composite resin that is bonded to the tooth and matched to its colour.
Who it is for
Patients with cavities, worn or chipped back teeth, or old fillings that need replacing.
What happens during treatment
- The area is numbed with local anaesthetic if needed.
- Decay is removed and the tooth is cleaned.
- The filling material is placed in layers and hardened with a curing light.
- Your bite is checked and the filling is shaped and polished.
Aftercare
- Wait until the numbness wears off before eating.
- Some sensitivity to cold for a few days is normal; tell us if it lasts longer than two weeks.
Questions about this treatment
How long do composite fillings last?
Many last several years. Lifespan depends on the size of the filling, your bite and how you care for your teeth.
Can I eat straight away?
Yes. Composite sets fully under the curing light, but wait for the numbness to wear off.
